When I was growing up in church, dating advice pretty much started and ended with ‘Make sure you don’t have sex until you’re married.’
We need to help our young people to think about – to think through – dating from a Christian perspective.
That was insufficient for me and my peers in the 90s, and is even more so for young people today. As adults involved in their lives (whether as parents, youth leaders, other family members, and so on), we need to help our young people to think about – to think through – dating from a Christian perspective.
I recently had a chat about this with Jennifer Kvamme. Jennifer is the author of the excellent book More to the Story: Deep Answers to Real Questions on Attraction, Identity, and Relationships (you can read my full review of her book here). There’s a chapter in there on dating that I found so helpful as I seek to disciple young people in my church. I asked Jennifer to join me for a conversation on that topic.
Listen in on my conversation with Jennifer as she draws some wise and helpful principles from 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7.
