How can we help children growing up in our sex and gender obsessed culture to have a healthy, biblical understanding of these elements of human experience? How can we do this in a way that engages with the realities children will see around them but is also appropriate to their age and developmental stage? These will be questions that lots of us have wrestled with whether as parents, teachers, church kids’ leaders or just friends of families with kids.

I know few people I would trust more to help us think through those questions than our friends over at Faith in Kids. A couple of years ago, the Faith in Kids team released a great set of resources titled ‘Who Am I?’. These resources help children and families to have positive conversations about identity and God’s better story on that topic. The series is a great way to lay vital foundations in young lives.

This year, Faith in Kids are releasing a follow-up series called ‘Growing Up: God’s Good Story’. This set of resources is designed for use with children aged 5-11 and explores how God-given identity impacts our thinking about topics like bodies, gender, marriage, and sexuality.

I’ve had the privilege of getting a sneak peak at the resources ahead of their official launch on 2^nd May, and they are exceptional. The Faith in Kids team have served both kids’ leaders and parents amazingly, offering age-appropriate ways of talking to children about these vital and unavoidable topics. As I read through the materials, I genuinely found myself exclaiming out loud, almost involuntarily, ‘This is so good!’.

It's been great to hear about lots of churches and parents who have been blessed by the ‘Who Am I?’ materials over the last couple of years, and I am really excited to hear the stories of how ‘Growing Up’ does the same and more in the coming months and years.

The ‘Growing Up: God’s Good Story’ resource will be released on the Faith in Kids website on Thursday 2^nd May. If you’re a kids’ leader, get the date in your diary.
